Integrative Counselling

Integrative Counselling means I draw from different therapeutic modalities and tailor sessions specifically to you as an individual. This is a collaborative and flexible approach.

Modalities I draw on include:

Person-Centred Therapy

Focuses on creating a warm, non-judgemental, and supportive relationship where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.

Can be helpful for:

  • Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
  • Feeling stuck
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Processing emotions in a safe and accepting space

Psychodynamic Therapy

Explores how past experiences, particularly early relationships, can shape current feelings, behaviours and relationships.

Can be helpful for:

  • Repeating patterns in relationships
  • Exploring the impact of childhood or earlier life experiences
  • Gaining deeper insight into yourself and your responses

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Focuses on links between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and may include practical tools where these feel useful.

Can be helpful for:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Low mood or depression
  • Managing overwhelming thoughts
  • Developing coping strategies for stress and everyday challenges

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Prioritises safety, choice, and pacing, recognising how difficult or overwhelming experiences can affect the nervous system and emotional wellbeing.

Can be helpful for:

  • Feeling overwhelmed or emotionally shut down
  • Difficulties with trust or safety
  • Working gently with distressing memories or feelings

Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy is a form of counselling where we walk together outdoors during our sessions.

As human beings, we have an innate connection with nature — something that can feel grounding and supportive. I believe the outdoors can be used not only as a setting for therapy, but also as a therapeutic resource that supports emotional wellbeing.

Our relationship with nature — what we notice, how we relate to it, and how we experience our surroundings — can play an important role in mental health. By taking therapy outdoors, a space can be created to explore difficult emotions and experiences while feeling gently supported by the natural environment.

The Benefits

  • Movement and gentle exercise, which can boost mood and energy
  • Fresh air and open space, which may help reduce stress and anxiety
  • Walking side-by-side rather than face-to-face, which can feel less intense or intimidating
  • A sense of space and ease — many people report feeling able to breathe more freely outdoors
  • Using nature and metaphor to help express thoughts and feelings
  • Finding it easier to explore feelings such as feeling stuck or overwhelmed

How it Works

If you enquire about walk and talk therapy, we’ll first arrange a time to speak by phone or online. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and find out whether this way of working feels right for you.

We’ll also go through a short working contract, covering important aspects of our work together, including safety and confidentiality, which can differ from working indoors.

Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes and usually take place at Linn Park in Cathcart or Cuningar Loop in Dalmarnock, though I’m open to discussing other suitable routes.

As with indoor sessions, walk and talk therapy is led by you. We’ll move at your pace, and together we can decide how you’d like to use the space.
